<p>hour 2: off jab-jab-cross: slip the cross, hook to body/head.  slip, with hand nearest arm controlling at the wrist into arm bar or follow-up of choise.  Then looked at slip with training hand on inside of cross ie split entry, into body arm bar.  Then changed reference position.  Again combo #5 at the back fist its effectively a split entry position so worked lung 5 takedown.  Switch to classic lung 5 since the leo move seemed a little hard.</p>

<p>Thursday: There were four new people!!  Quick intro to fighting stance, jab, and cross.  Drill jab-jab-cross on focus mits. Same things, but holder feeds hook which puncher must cover after cross&#8211;ie forcing good retraction.  Same now with circle away while covering.  New people continued with jab-jab-cross; old people add cover, circle step away,  hook to the body.  New people worked jab, cross, hook; old people covered hook, pass and counter as in leo form #1.  End first hour</p>
<p>Second hour block check counter focusing on twirl out to re-post.  Then into Remy Jr. move from tuesday.  Then counter with twirl out. Then hold oppents canes so that can&#8217;t twirl.  Then because of committed grab to stop twirl, counter with idiot lock.  From idiot lock briefly tried thumb/wrist lock.  Repeat about now focusing on the punyo presentation and openning hand to clear center line&#8230;.related it to backfist in leo combo #5.   Then sorta let people &#8220;play&#8221; Intended to do 10 count but it never happened</p>
<p>Chad taught Sunday:  looked out breaking flow and entering from single sinawali solo baston.  Then played with short vs long weapon, both when there is lots of space and in close quaters. Played with fighting from a chair.  Worked back/spinning kicks and roundhouse&#8230;.idea about rotational momentum and keeping the hips in motion.</p>

Finished with lots of offense-defense.</p>
<p>Tuesday 12/5&#8211;started with FH/BH sets against low line feeds.  Into block-pass-counter with single canes with left vs right did only angle 1; with right vs right did only angle 2.  Idea that after passing the cane hand does not cross center.  Worked this concept open hand passing high line hooks; repeat against low-line hooks relating this motion to knife flow-set.  Stressed importance of keeping elbows at home, so worked open-hand single sinawali standing close together.  Added Dave&#8217;s acceleration block from single sinawali.  Tried to relate that aquisition to leo combo #5 where oppenent&#8217;s gaurd is pulled down to open line for backfist.  Worked combo #5 as offense-defense and talked about cohesion created by the back-first.  Worked the openning with the backfist by doing remy jr trap aginst angle 1 bolo baston. Control tip of cane, shoot punyo, to face, little wheel while passing their cane low line to trap.</p>

<p class="MsoNormal"> Tuesday&#8211;Umm not sure what happened but we eneded up working on stick and knife&#8230;.go figure.  Did FH sets with mixed length weapons.  With some comments on the deference between using a blade and a bludgeon.  Then worked the knife flow drill.  Practiced side-by-side throw from the flow drill; and worked cut to the leg.  Finished with Leo combo #6</p>

<p>Graped canes and did FH set to the low-line, again focusing on stepping away from the attack.</p>
<p>Second hour: went into six count drill emphasis on angle 9 block to lowline attack instead of drop stick.  Fun had by all.Went into self-defense from the second set ie tapioca showdownstuff.  Took a moment to work center lock, noting the difference between small circle on the wrist, small circle where the circle is bowing with their wrist on your chest, and putting the two circles together.  Finally work Jeff counter to press block, to focus on dip, step, recover foot work&#8230;..refered to sundays class where the same foot work was used to do a hammer lock.</p>
<p>Sunday</p>
<p>Leo combo #4  starting with three jabs (the true biginers did combos 2,3,9.)  Throw jabs and in response to feeder throwing hook do FH1 into LC #4.  Repeat, this time do FH2 (ie block with jabbing arm) into LC#4.  Worked EDT  1-5. Note we need work on securing the escort postion.  Oppnent should not be in control of their arm, you should own it.  Thus end first class.  The true beginers stuck around on work on leo fong from #1.</p>
<p>Second hour run through leo forms 1,3,2, Nahanchi, and Takeioku (I can&#8217;t spell.)  It was mentioned that our fighting stances have gone to pot.  Reviewed first two sets of bunkai.  It went OK.  Worked block check, cane flip off angle #1.  Then did same thing indicating declaw.</p>

<p>Thursday 11/9 Warm-up with the kicking and punching etc  cane swining.  2nd hour sensei Neal makes a triumphant return and covered self defense from the first set</p>
<p>Sunday 11/12 Leo combo&#8217;s 5 and 6&#8211;needs lots of work.  Then did sinawali boxing to work on responding to hand opening, then countering after opponent blocks&#8230;..similar to what happens with combo #6.  Then worked shoulder roll and inside thigh kick starting from sinawali boxing shell.  Working hammer lock starting from sinawali boxing shell.  Then into standing arm bar.  bobby jenkins was gonna work center lock off of the standing arm bar but time ran out&#8230;..shucks</p>

<p>Started with leo combo of choice, loosened the hips with kicks from replacement step.  Had attacker march the length of the room throwing crosses, while defender worked on block strike and step-over to the knee.  Focuses were: keeping eyes on oppentents chin, proper distance to hand and foot could touch opponent, and cutting to the 45.  Finished with Roger&#8217;s largo strikes.</p>
<p> Second class reviewed first three disarms, then did them from flow of one&#8217;s choosing.  Thats right some people did Tapi-Tapi&#8230;.what!  Also tossed in obstruction removal.  Worked disarms open-hand vs floppy cane, which allowed a discussion of entering.</p>

<p>I haven&#8217;t been able to write much, &#8217;cause coach has been really beating us down at practice.  I really don&#8217;t understand where my friend Doogie gets all the time to keep that journal AND be a doctor.  I&#8217;m having enough problems trying to balance Lisa Marie and Betty Sue.  Lisa had to go and join Betty Sue&#8217;s karate class.  With my luck, they&#8217;ll wind up best of friends and then I&#8217;ll never get to second base!</p>
<p>Anyway, at practice on Tuesday we didn&#8217;t dress up, but we did do EDT from the backhand.  We worked on relaxing like Uncle Leo and Uncle Jeff told us.  We also worked on the ball-and-chain concept for hitting the elbow.  We did some Avish-like weight distribution exercises to try to be able to move people.</p>
<p>In the advance class we worked on two of the first 6 required self-defense moves.  We did something before that; maybe Betty Sue knows.</p>
