Class on College Green then the biopond

Dave on lead vocals; J on bass.

First hour: jab, cross, hook, upper cut on focus mitts left and right leads

Bobby 12 angles static; followed by forehand (fh) set #1 against 12 angles. Forehand #1 would be backhand block, forehand counter.

Worked the pokes (angles 5,6,7)  focusing on keeping elbows close to the body and generating force by moving the core.  Defender worked on block check counter at close range.

Did strikes to the air pairwise.  Progression was 1-1, 1-2, 1-3….1-12.  Then did 2-1, 2-2, 2-3….2-12.  Both left and right leads.

Continued progression from Thursday’s class: jab, defender does fh #1, attacker blocks the counter jab, defender accepts energy from the block and traps the attacker’s jabbing arm and counters with uppercut.  Things to think about include the attacker working on retracting the jab after the block; the defender wants to block with cohesion to delay the attacker’s retraction.  Defender should try to block and punch (the fh #1 motion) with very little delay between the block and punch.  Attacker should try not to over commit to their block (this progression capitalizes on the attacker not retracting their initial jab and over committing on the block.)  Defender should close distance after their punch is blocked; do not retract the punch, instead step in as if throwing a elbow in order to acquire the trap.  Note the change in range, starting from punching range the defender is closing to trapping range.
